Any cryptocurrency service needs to keep evolving to attract a lot of users accordingly. Bringing cryptocurrency to the masses has been a pretty big challenge, albeit services such as CoinText might help shape the future in a positive manner. Their service now lets users pay for BitPay invoices through SMS.

CoinText Enters the Next Stage

Bitcoin Cash enthusiasts will be very familiar with the CoinText project. It is a relatively simple yet elegant service which lets users send BCH to any mobile phone number in the world. A service like this can make a world of difference when it comes to dealing with cryptocurrencies in general. More importantly, it can bring financial services to regions where banking products are very difficult to come by.

In a new update, CoinText developers have decided to integrate some additional functionality. Although most enthusiasts have no problems paying for Bitcoin Cash invoices through the BitPay payment processor,  any additional convenience brought to the table will be greatly appreciated regardless. In this particular instance, their “BUY” feature will be getting a lot of attention.

Because of this additional functionality, CoinText users can spend BCH at any retailer using BitPay by just sending an SMS message. This does not just pertain to online outlets, but also in-store retailers who rely on this prominent company for both BTC and BCH payments. This is a welcome addition which turns CoinText into a full-fledged wallet feature, even though it already allow users to send and receive funds.

Although some might argue this is an unnecessary future, the reality is very different. CoinText’s latest addition removes the need for online connectivity to make payments generated by BitPay. This can be quite useful when in an area where one has terrible mobile data service, or for those who simply don’t use mobile data in the first place. In countries where older generations of phones are still present, this feature by CoinText can be quite successful moving forward.

It is always difficult to predict how cryptocurrency users will respond to this functionality moving forward. In the Western world, it might not necessarily be in high demand, although users will be given additional chance to pay for transactions through a regular SMS. That in itself is always a positive sign, as empowering users is one of the CoinText team’s main objectives.

This also highlights how “old ways” can be combined with the modern payment option represented by cryptocurrencies. There is no reason to make older technology obsolete, especially when it can easily power global cryptocurrency payments in this modern age. CoinText is bridging the gap in this regard, and their efforts may be a catalyst for broader crypto adoption in the future.
