dYdX Website Compromised: Users Urged To Exercise Caution

Yesterday, dYdX announced a security breach affecting their dYdX[.]exchange website. The team warned users to avoid visiting the site, clicking any links, withdrawing funds, or interacting with the website in any way.

This attack specifically targeted the dYdX v3 website. Despite the breach, the smart contracts on dYdX v3 remained secure, ensuring that the dYdX Chain, dydx.trade, and the v3 Protocol were never compromised.

Approximately four hours after the breach, dYdX Trading Inc. managed to recover the compromised website. However, some users might still encounter warnings from wallet extensions like Metamask and Phantom when attempting to connect to the site. To ensure a safe connection, dYdX advises users to clear their cache and restart their browsers before accessing the website again.

This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and caution in the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrency. Users are reminded to stay informed about potential threats and to take appropriate security measures to protect their assets. Despite this setback, dYdX’s prompt response and recovery efforts demonstrate their commitment to maintaining the security and integrity of their platform.
